Stork Chicks Fallen from the Nest Under the Protection of Our University

Upon a tip-off received by Burdur Doğa Koruma ve Milli Parklar Müdürlüğü Bucak Şefliği, in a natural event that occurred in Ağlasun İlçesi Hisar Köyü, three stork chicks were found after falling from their nests due to a tree falling. The Milli Parklar Müdürlüğü teams, who quickly arrived at the scene, safely took the chicks and, after the necessary initial intervention, delivered them to our University's Yaban Hayvanları Koruma, Rehabilitasyon Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi.

Our center, while handling all incoming wild animals with a scientific, ethical, and compassion-based approach, works in close cooperation with Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi during this process. The mentioned three stork chicks were also taken under the expert supervision of the Veteriner Fakültesi through our center, and detailed health checks, care, and feeding processes were initiated.

The treatment and care process is carried out with the experienced academic staff and technical infrastructure of the Veteriner Fakültesi, and it is meticulously monitored to ensure that the chicks can return to their natural lives healthily.

Quick and conscious intervention in such events is of great importance for the protection of wildlife and the sustainability of generations. Our university accepts it as a duty to work with local and national stakeholders, not only with the production of academic knowledge but also with the awareness of its responsibility towards nature and all living beings.
